Community and Primary Health Care Promoters Training – Short Course

Mzuzu University through the Faculty of Health Sciences with support from SHEAMA developed an 18 weeks online short course for school leavers in order to add value to their contribution to community health through their participation in local organizations, health committees or voluntary community health work.

The short course aimed at equipping individuals who work to improve healthcare outcomes by facilitating healthcare access; adding value to the healthcare team; and enriching the quality of life for people who are poor, under-served and hard to reach communities. Community and Primary Health Care Promoters act as a liaison between healthcare providers and consumers within rural and urban communities.

This program therefore strengthens capacity of these youths who engage in community health services and widen their opportunities to get formal employment in Community Health, WASH, and Community Development programmes.

Strengthening Higher Education Access in Malawi Activity (SHEAMA) program, is implemented by Arizona State University with funding from USAID Malawi.
